AKASHIC RECORDS

What Is an Akashic Records Reading, and What Happens When I Open Yours

People ask me what an Akashic Records reading is in two different ways. Some out of curiosity, others because something is pressing on them. The honest answer takes a little longer than a sentence.

RUCHITA JOSHI··6 MIN READ

People ask me what an Akashic Records reading is in two different ways. Some ask out of curiosity, the same way they would ask about astrology. Others ask because something is pressing on them and they want to know if a reading can speak to it. The honest answer takes a little longer than a sentence.

The library that holds your soul’s record

The Akashic Records are not a metaphor for me. I was taught to think of them as a metaphysical library held in the Akasha, with a book for every soul who has ever lived. The book I read for you is your book for this lifetime, not the sum of every life you have lived. Some traditions teach that all your incarnations are open at once. The way I was trained, only the current chapter is mine to read, and only with permission.

How I was trained, and what that means for you

I trained at Earthwise, where the Pathway Prayer Process is taught the way it was passed down. Before that I read on my own for years, mostly for my own animals, and I kept getting asked to read for friends. The training mattered because it gave me a discipline. I do not enter a record without an opening. I do not stay longer than I am given. I do not bring back what I am not shown.

For you, this is the load-bearing detail. A reader without protocol is a reader making things up. A reader with protocol is a reader who can tell you when she does not know.

The opening prayer and what shifts when I say it

I open with a request to Archangel Metatron, the keeper of the records in the tradition I was trained in. I say your full name three times, then your birth date and your birthplace. The opening is not theatre. It is the address that tells the records which book to bring out.

Something does shift when I say it. The room narrows. The next thing I notice comes not as a thought but as a frame I drop into. From inside that frame I can ask questions and what comes back is steady. When I leave the frame at the end of the session, the room widens again and I am tired in the body the way I am tired after a day of teaching. It is a real expenditure.

What I can see inside your record

I can see soul patterns. The recurring themes that show up across the years of this lifetime, the way you keep meeting the same kind of person or the same kind of obstacle. I can sometimes see imprints from earlier lifetimes when they are bleeding into this one and need to be named. I can see contracts and agreements you made before you came in, the work you said you would do.

I cannot see lottery numbers. I cannot see whether the person you are seeing now is the one. I will not pretend otherwise.

What I will not do inside your record

I will not predict your future. The future is not fixed and the records are not a calendar. I will not tell you who is cursing you. The framing of curse is the wrong framing for what your soul is actually carrying. I will not give you a timeline for marriage, money, or career. If the record shows me an opening, I will say so. If it shows me a closing, I will say that too. Specific dates are almost never given, and when they are, they come from your own soul, not mine.

These limits are not modesty. They are how the work stays clean. A reader who promises everything is selling something else.

A reading I remember from Shantigram

I read for a woman in our township in Ahmedabad whose son had moved to Canada and stopped calling. She came to me because she was sure she had done something wrong. The record showed me that she had done nothing wrong. Her son was carrying a grief he had not yet found language for. The record showed me a moment four years ago when his grandfather passed and he was the one to find him. Her son had not told her this part because he did not want to add to her sorrow. The record asked her to write to him without expecting a reply. She did. Six weeks later he called.

I do not promise that every reading turns the way that one did. I am telling you about that one because it is the kind of thing the records can do when they choose to show me something useful.

Is this the right session for you right now?

An Akashic Records reading is best when you have a question you have been carrying for a long time and no one has been able to give you a clean answer to. It is not the right session for a one-off curiosity question. For that, a Soul Letter is gentler and lower-threshold. If your question is about your relationship with your animal, an animal communication session is the more direct path.

If you are ready, you can book an Akashic Records reading directly. If you want to read more first, the full session description is here, and the frequently asked questions page covers most of what people write to me before they decide.
